আগের পর্বগুলোতে আমরা job resume এবং international resume নিয়ে আলোচনা করেছি। কিন্তু আপনি যদি MS, PhD, scholarship, research assistantship, বা professor-এর সাথে যোগাযোগ করতে চান — তাহলে আপনার দরকার একদম আলাদা ধরনের document — Academic CV।
Academic CV এবং job resume — দুটোর audience, purpose, এবং structure ভিন্ন:
- Job resume says: "এই specific role-এ আমি কী value আনতে পারব।"
- Academic CV says: "Research/academia-তে আমি কী contribute করেছি এবং করতে পারব।"

১. Contact Information
📞 Contact — Academic Context
Standard contact info, কিন্তু কিছু additional academic-specific items থাকতে পারে।
কী include করবেন
- Full name
- Email (preferably institutional/academic email if you have one — e.g.,
yourname@university.edu.bd) - Phone number
- City, Country
- ORCID (if you have one —

💡 ORCID Tip
ORCID একটা free, unique digital identifier যা researchers identify করে। যদি আপনি academic work করছেন বা করবেন — orcid.org-এ একটা account তৈরি করে নিন। Free এবং academic community-তে standard।
২. Education
🎓 Education — More Detailed Than Job CV
Academic CV-তে education section job resume-এর চেয়ে বেশি detailed। Thesis topic, advisor, এবং relevant academic markers include করুন।
প্রতিটা degree entry-তে যা থাকে
- Degree name (e.g., M.Sc. in Computer Science, B.Sc. in Physics)
- Institution name এবং country
- Graduation year (or expected)
- GPA / CGPA
- Thesis/Dissertation title
- Thesis advisor name
- Relevant coursework (especially for fresh grads or program-specific applications)
- Honors (Dean's List, top of class, etc.)
৩. Research Interests
🔬 Research Interests — Direction Statement
একটা ছোট section যেখানে আপনি ৩-৫টা specific research areas list করেন। এটা admission committee এবং professor-দের বুঝতে সাহায্য করে আপনার academic direction।
Good vs Bad Research Interests
- ❌ Too broad: "Computer Science", "Machine Learning", "Physics"
- ✅ Specific: "Natural Language Processing for low-resource languages (Bengali, Hindi)", "Quantum error correction", "Distributed systems for edge computing"
📌 Note
Research interests-এ আপনি সঠিক area দেখাচ্ছেন — কিন্তু overly narrow না হয়ে professor-এর সাথে fit indicate করছেন। MS/PhD application করার সময় target professor-এর সাথে slight alignment maintain করুন (artificial না হয়ে)।
৪. Publications — Most Critical Section
📚 Publications — Be Brutally Honest
এটি academic CV-র সবচেয়ে important এবং সবচেয়ে dangerous section। Fake publications বা inflated authorship — academic communities-এ সহজেই verify হয় এবং discovered হলে career-ending consequence।
Publication Status — Clear Distinctions
📗 Published
Paper accepted এবং journal/conference-এ published। DOI/page numbers available।
📘 Accepted (In Press)
Accepted কিন্তু এখনো formally published হয়নি। DOI পাওয়া যেতে পারে।
📙 Under Review / Submitted
Journal/conference-এ submit করা হয়েছে, কিন্তু এখনো decision আসেনি।
📓 In Preparation
Draft form-এ আছে, যা আপনি লিখছেন কিন্তু submit করেননি। সাধারণত list করার দরকার নেই।
🚨 Critical Honesty Rule
এই status distinctions blur করা academic dishonesty হিসেবে দেখা হয়। Common offenses যা আপনি কখনো করবেন না:
- "Under review" listed when আপনি actually submit করেননি
- "Published" listed for paper যা accepted হয়নি
- "In preparation" listed for paper যা আপনি actually লেখেননি
- Co-author hiding — সব authors honestly list করতে হবে, আপনার name যেখানে actually আছে
- First author claim — যদি আপনি co-author হন, "first author" দাবি করবেন না
Verification খুব সহজ: Reviewer/committee Google Scholar, arXiv, journal websites check করেন। Inflated publication detected হলে — application immediately rejected এবং sometimes academic blacklist।
Publications Format
Standard format (varies by field — APA, MLA, IEEE, Chicago):
Last Name, F. M., & Last Name, F. M. (Year). Title of the paper. Journal Name, Volume(Issue), Pages. DOI/URL.

৫. Conference Presentations / Talks
🎤 Conferences — Honest Distinctions
Conference presentations academic CV-তে important। কিন্তু publication-এর মতো এখানেও honest distinctions critical।
Different types — distinguish
- Invited Talk — Organizer আপনাকে invite করেছেন (most prestigious)
- Oral Presentation — Peer-reviewed, you presented your work
- Poster Presentation — Poster format-এ presented, often peer-reviewed
- Co-author of Presentation — অন্য author presented, you contributed
- Attendee — সাধারণত list করার দরকার নেই (unless very prestigious workshop)
⚠️ Don't conflate
Poster presentation-কে "talk" বা "presentation" বলবেন না without clarification। "Attended conference" এবং "presented at conference" — দু'টো সম্পূর্ণ আলাদা।
৬. Research Experience

প্রতিটা research project আলাদাভাবে describe করুন। Job experience-এর মতো bullet format।

৭. Teaching Experience
যদি আপনি TA (Teaching Assistant), tutor, lab instructor, বা guest lecturer হিসেবে কাজ করেছেন — এটা important section, especially PhD applications-এ যেখানে teaching দ্বিতীয় career path।

- Course name এবং level (undergraduate/graduate)

- Semester/Year
- Brief description (what you taught, class size, responsibilities)
৮. Honors, Awards, এবং Fellowships
Academic achievement honors এই section-এ। Most prestigious first।

👥 Academic References — Detailed
Academic CV-তে references সাধারণত detail-এ list করা হয়। ৩ জন academic referee সাধারণত standard।

⚠️ Always Get Permission
Academic reference হিসেবে কাউকে list করার আগে — সবসময় আগে অনুমতি নিন এবং inform করুন কোন program/scholarship-এর জন্য apply করছেন। Many academic recommendation systems তাদেরই recommendation letter direct upload চায়।

Job resume-এর মতো 1-page rule academic CV-তে apply হয় না। Academic CV যত content আছে — সব relevant এবং honest content include করা acceptable। Forced shortening বা padding — দু'টোই avoid করুন।
CV for MS/PhD Application
Graduate school application-এর জন্য academic CV বিশেষভাবে important। প্রতিটি program-এর specific requirements থাকে।

💡 Cold Email Strategy
Professor সাধারণত busy। Short, focused CV (1-2 pages) — যেখানে আপনার fit clearly visible — full 5-page CV-র চেয়ে বেশি কার্যকর। আপনি যদি admission application করেন, তখন full CV upload করবেন। Initial email-এর জন্য — shorter is better।
